The Texas Theatre offers a truly reel romantic spot for a date night where the ambiance and intrigue star in equal parts. Opened in 1931 with a lavish Venetian style interior complete with opera boxes, a starlit ceiling and giant chandelier, it offers more than just a movie; it's a vibe. It's a movie date spot and a step back in time.
Before the movie, you might see all sorts of things, depending on what you chose. Promos for upcoming events, interviews, a verbal introduction to the movie, dancing. You will not experience intrusive advertising. The theater itself is like theaters used to be. Uncomfortable chairs that fold up and down, imperfect video quality. I do not want this to change.
You will probably not get over the top customer service at the bar or at the front desk. You don't need it. This is the best movie theater that exists. Tip the bartenders.
The staff at the concession stand were polite and welcoming. The overall movie experience was enjoyable. While the sound quality could’ve been better, it’s unclear whether that was due to the theater or the film itself.
The theater is definitely older, but it has a charming, retro vibe that gives it a unique character. I’m really glad I got to experience something different from the typical modern cinema — it added a special touch to the evening.
