Step inside Otaru and you’ll find a cozy, dim-lit sushi bar where the chefs roll fresh handrolls right before your eyes, inviting you and your date to lean in close and watch the magic happen. Share a flight of nigiri or handrolls. The mango salmon roll or a rich A5 Wagyu nigiri are swoon and share worthy bites. The seating is intimate and mostly at the chef’s counter.

The chef was very friendly and skilled . The atmosphere of the restaurant was great and cozy. Make sure you make reservation before you go. They are busy even on weekdays.

What a gem of a sushi spot! From start to finish, our experience was stellar. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and professional, genuinely warm without being overbearing. We sat right at the bar so we could watch the chefs work their magic, and that only elevated the whole experience.

Every dish was delicious: fresh, artfully presented, and full of flavor. Their menu includes such unique and fun offerings that you don’t see everywhere, which made the meal feel adventurous. Also, the hand rolls were absolutely unforgettable.

If you’re looking for a sushi place that combines flair, flavor, and first-rate service, this is it. Highly, highly recommended.

The staff was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The restaurant is very approachable and I liked that it offered a variety of items so we could try a little bit of everything. We had a fantastic time and enjoyed every piece we had from the truffle salmon sashimi to the toro topped with caviar, fresh truffle and gold flakes.

Hands down the best sushi restaurant in Dallas. Matches the flavor and experience of Tatsu but for an affordable price! I’m so glad this spot opened up in the neighborhood! The fish is always so fresh and so delicious. The hospitality is unmatched. I will miss this place so much when I move!!

This place has quickly become a neighborhood favorite, and I’m thrilled they decided to open in the area. Steve is probably one of my favorite chefs here. The food is consistently fresh and delicious, and the chefs are both attentive and kind. Seating is very limited, so I suggest arriving early. While they don’t usually accept reservations, they will accommodate parties of 6 or more.

However, I wouldn’t recommend bringing a large group, as the space is more suited for intimate gatherings—perfect for date nights, solo dining, or groups of up to four. Anything bigger can be a bit overwhelming for the small staff, though they still manage well.

The food is freshly prepared right in front of you, so if you visit later in the evening, expect a bit of a wait. I’ve loved every dish I’ve tried so far, and their lychee martinis are a must-try. Don’t skip dessert either—it’s fantastic! 10/10, highly recommend!
