    What makes it fun

Night Rooster menu is filled with modern Chinese-American cuisine from Top Chef alum Shirley Chung. The moody, intimate restaurant serves elevated takes on Chinese favorites, including tea smoked duck, crispy orange chicken, shrimp and chicken shumai, wagyu cheeseburger potstickers, and creative cocktails. Its dark and seductive dining room and stylish bar give the restaurant a polished vibe that is perfect for date night.

The duck is a must try! Best I've had anywhere. It was so tender! The potatoes were amazing. Service and vibes were great also!

Came here back in July and I’m still thinking about how good it was lol. Their happy hour menu is so worth it. We had the Lychee Blossom, Momotaro Margarita, and Matcha 3x and they were all delicious. The Oysters were clean and flavorful and the broth with the Spicy Chicken Wontons was addicting, we were recommended to save it for the rice and that really elevated the experience! We also had the Drunken Yellowtail - I personally loved the citrus and freshness. The Prime Filet & Broccoli was tender and paired well with the Veggie Fried Rice. The Duck Fried Rice had the glisten of the duck fat incorporated and nice duck pieces. The Spicy Garlic Prawns were huge!! Last but definitely not least - the Lava Potato Puree.. sooo good. It’s warm, garlicky, and gluttonous. We came in around 5:30 on a Thursday and the space was quiet and intimate. Beautiful place for photos and the service was top-notch. Definitely worth coming here for Asian fine-dining.

We had a wonderful experience on a Tuesday evening, two weeks ago. We sat at the bar to take advantage of their great happy hour menu. We enjoyed everything we ordered! Oysters, Lobster & Shrimp Air Egg Rolls, Wagyu Cheeseburger Potstickers (such a fun and creative dish), Duck Fat Spicy Chicken Wontons, and Night Rooster Caviar Bites (perfect bite!). All of these were incredible, would absolutely recommend! Drinks were delicious too, bartender was so friendly! We also ordered the Three Course Pre Fixe $45 per person. The Drunken Yellowtail Crudo was a huge portion and tasty. Duck Fried Rice and the upcharge Lobster & Prawn Noodles were both great. The Mango Grapefruit Coconut Sago was refreshing and the Cheesecake was delicious! Only negative on the food was the side order of Lava Potato Puree, it was extremely salty, so much so that it was overpowering and could barely taste garlic. We will be back! Highly recommend!

I did watch Chef Shirley Chung on Top Chef and was here for her food! It did not disappoint: Maybe an upscale place won’t like hearing this, but even the kids loved this place! Now, the kids in my party aren’t picky in the stereotypical picky-kid sense, as in they actually eat a good variety of foods and like trying new things, but they will have *strong* opinions about what they like and dislike. Night Rooster landed squarely on the good side of their opinion. We all did the prix fixe menu and ordered a variety of things, so we could all sample as wide a variety of their menu as possible. Some standouts: APPETIZERS - Chef Shirley started out with dumplings and the Cheeseburger Dumplings (in the photo with the egg rolls) were, sure enough, juicy and scrumptious and a good filling to wrapper ratio. One of the kids who normally do not like sushi/sashimi, loved the Yellowtail and Jicama Crudo. The Lobster & Shrimp Air Eggrolls were fried crispy (but not oily!) and I loved the flavor of the light and airy filling, which I’ve never gotten that texture (light and airy) before in egg roll fillings. My absolute favorite appetizer was the Spicy Wontons! It is actually spicy, not yt people spicy. But the flavor is incredible. ENTREES - I enjoyed their take on Orange Chicken and Beef and Broccoli, made with premium meats and they do taste it. The beef is far more tender than normal beef and broccoli and the chicken was more flavorful. And this is not just the money talking because I didn’t know they used premium chicken and beef until I read the review in D Magazine. Then after I saw that bit of information I thought, yes that makes sense. The Spicy Garlic Prawns, not spicy but great stir-fry flavor, large and juicy. The Tea-Smoked Duck is good, though I did think that cooking was a bit uneven—cooking the duck breast to the perfect doneness, which it was, meant that the legs were slightly undercooked. My favorite entree was the Soy-Marinated Chicken my friend ordered. The amazing savory flavor was marinated all the way through the chicken into the bone! No dry, bland chicken breast here. DESSERTS - Had both the White Chocolate Cheesecake and the Mango Grapefruit Sago options. The Sago was a surprise hit with the kids! All except one of them preferred it over the cheesecake—I know, right? I can see why. It was a perfect balance of tart and sweet and refreshing. The Cheesecake was no slouch either. The matcha sauce is to die for. MISC THOUGHTS: - Great value. Portion sizes are large. We had leftovers, which brings me to… - …they still tasted great as leftovers! I think that’s one of the advantages of Chinese food in that they heat back up well. - Service-wise, I appreciated that we were left alone to visit and talk, and weren’t made to answer questions constantly with our mouths full. I just thought it might’ve veered a little too much into that territory. I think if the intervals between someone checking in on us were about 5 minutes shorter, it would have been perfect. - Love the loving attention to detail in this place. The claw-shaped door opener, the logo which is the Chinese astrological character for “chicken”, the between-courses amuse bouche duck broth served in a beautiful little porcelain cup, and the paper-thin rice crackers served with it that the kids *raved* about, etc. - I find the lighting in the bathrooms to be a bit too dim.

My friend and I dined here and had an enjoyable time. Parking was easy and we were seated quickly. The service amongst our waitress and staff was great and very attentive! We started out with a few appetizers - lobster and shrimp air egg rolls, jumbo wagyu cheeseburger potstickers, duck fat spicy chicken wontons, and the drunken yellowtail. I really enjoyed the wontons (wasn’t overly spicy) and yellowtail (very fresh) but the eggroll could’ve held more flavor (the dipping sauce was good) and if you enjoy cheeseburgers you’ll like the potstickers (wasn’t for me). For the main, we shared the prime filet and broccoli + added a side of steamed white rice and lava potato puree. The beef and broccoli were delicious and meat cooked well but I would’ve enjoyed a little bit more sauce. The puree was tasty and was a nice addition to the meal. We ended with tea and a matcha dessert - we enjoyed both! Overall, this was a good dining experience and definitely recommend!

Every dish was memorable. It’s a really pretty spot and our server was super nice too! We had our pre-teen/teen kids with us and they were treated very kindly as well. We forgot to take a photo of the matcha cheesecake but it was absolutely delicious! We drove an hour in traffic from Denton but it was worth it we’ll be back for sure.
