    What makes it fun

Looking for a date that’s both inspiring and intimate? The National Medal of Honor Museum offers a unique blend of history, heroism, and heartfelt moments. The museum's striking architecture, designed by Rafael Viñoly Architects, features a 100,000 square-foot structure that appears to hover above the ground, supported by five concrete megacolumns representing each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. This innovative design sets the stage for a memorable experience. Explore exhibits like "Moments of Action," "From Rails to Rotors," and "More Than a Medal," which showcase the inspiring stories of over 3,500 Medal of Honor recipients. These narratives of bravery and sacrifice provide meaningful conversation starters, allowing you and your date to reflect on the values that matter most.

Our visit at this museum was eye opening. We got to learn more about what these service members have gone through physically and personally. The interesting thing about our experience at this museum is that we learned about the National Medal of Honor and experience with the stories from various recipients. We heard the touching stories via videos, recordings, and the memorabilia of some of these 3500 plus service members who received this award. From the time that we checked in at the museum the staff was extremely knowledgeable and the flow of the museum was very purposeful and detailed but yet we went through the museum at our own pace. It was very emotional for me when watching the panoramic video of some of the presidents presenting the medals and telling the various stories but they did provide tissues. We got to experience an actual “dust off “ which is a virtual experience based on a Huey from the Vietnam War. We also got to ask questions of some of the recipients virtually which was so cool. The less than 4000 medal recipients stories represent more than 41,000,000 service members that have served in war time. There is much sacrifice that we all should appreciate. We enjoyed our lunch there and the food was excellent. We spent time in the gift shop. We also learned they have educational opportunities for middle school students and leadership classes for businesses.

Immersive and interactive exhibits make the Medal of Honor Museum engaging. I wish the heroes in our family could have seen it. It’s a great place to learn about the ethos that makes America one of the world’s safest, most vibrant countries.

We are so glad we were able to visit the National Medal of Honor Museum and will highly recommend it to others. The meaning of the architecture is so interesting and the displays are excellent. The theatre is the round presentation is very moving - kleenex are available at the door! My husband and grandson did the VR Dustoff Experience and thought it was really good. The tour with Courtney was excellent and we are so glad that we were able to do that for a deeper understanding and the ability to ask questions. The staff at the museum are very welcoming and helpful. I appreciate the museum and also their larger mission with the other programs that they have to teach about courage & sacrifice, commitment & integrity, citizenship & patriotism.

Visited on a Tuesday afternoon. No crowds. No waiting. Powerful exhibits, intriguing history, and audio-visual programming that surrounded us. As a Vietnam veteran, I was over-awed and drawn to the sounds and fury of the corner by the Huey dust-off helicopter. Took me back. Special thanks to Courtney, the tour guide who shared his knowledge and made sure we were comfortable and saw all the museum offered. Excellent!

Went and did a tour the museum today. The museum itself is beautiful and has a wealth of history and information. Summer was our guide and wow! The passion she showed in the information she was conveying was astounding! I feel so lucky to have had her as my tour guide today. Passion in our history like hers is something to proud of. Keep up the good work Summer!

This museum is one of the most touching experiences I've ever experienced. So well done. I will be back and will bring my husband. He will love it as well. Recommendation downloading the Smartify app ahead of time because you can scan artifacts and read about them later.
