    What makes it fun

Mābo is not your typical sushi spot. It's an intimate, yakitori driven omakase where grilled meat and veggies take center stage. Chef Masayuki Otaka works his magic right in front of the eight-seat counter, turning every skewer into a sizzling love note. You’ll embark on a 14 course journey of smoky Miyazaki Wagyu, tender chicken hearts, and even a delicate rice dish with uni and truffle. The setting is dim, the vibe feels like a speakeasy, and the minimalist design makes every glance feel intentional.

Overall a pleasant experience. The restaurant is quiet with a relaxed atmosphere and soft lighting.
The sashimi was fresh, and well-presented.
Service was attentive and professional — the Thai waitress in particular was very thoughtful and made the meal feel comfortable.

Yakitori and Hassun were amazing. Service was also good. Highly recommended!

We went to Mabo for their Omakase dinner. The attention to detail is what elevates this restaurant’s dining experience. Upon entering into small dining room, guests enjoy an intimate dining area limited to 8-9 guests per seating. Guests experience is at the root of everything Mabo offers. Chef has curated an amazing menu that allows guests through an amazing culinary experience. Each of the courses is prepared and presented with instructions of how each dish is intended to be enjoyed. Both serve and chef were attentive, professional, and ensured guests had an excellent experience. 10/10 would recommend for those looking for Dallas’ Best Omakase dinner, or a special celebratory dinner.

Some of the reviews are funny to me saying that the courses were mostly chicken... It's a Yakitori restaurant, translate Yakitori genius.

This is one of the best Yakitori restaurants in the country... And we have been to Torien, Torishen, and our personal NYC favorite, Kono.

MABO is absolutely a first class Yakitori experience and rivals any of the truly great Yakitori restaurants... We will be back, it was absolutely amazing.

Had a phenomenal experience. It’s now one of my favorite restaurants in Dallas. It’s rare you find a high end yakitori place in the US so this place is such a gem!

As someone who travels to Japan frequently and has experienced everything from local restaurants to Michelin 1, 2, and 3-star dining, I can confidently say that today’s yakitori omakase was truly unique. Each dish was exceptional, showcasing both technique and flavor. The waitress provided impeccable service, attentive and warm throughout the entire meal.
It was such a pleasure to find such high-quality yakitori right here in Dallas. I look forward to returning and trying a different menu next time.
Also worth noting — the restroom was spotless and carried that distinctly refined Japanese aesthetic. A wonderful touch!
