Last night, we stopped by Emporium Pies for the first time, and I was excited to finally try their famous “Lord of the Pies.” As a deep-dish apple pie lover, I had high expectations—and let me tell you, this pie did not disappoint! If only I could have warmed it up and paired it with some vanilla bean ice cream, it would have been absolute perfection. Even without it, this apple pie was beyond incredible.
Each slice is a masterpiece, featuring a towering 4-inch depth packed with ten freshly peeled and chopped apples. These apples are baked to tender perfection in the bakery’s rich, house-made caramel, giving each bite the perfect balance of sweetness and warmth. But what really takes this pie to the next level is the crispy cinnamon streusel topping, which adds just the right amount of crunch and spice. Encased in a buttery, flaky crust that melts in your mouth, this dessert is the definition of comfort food with a gourmet twist.
Whether you’re a local or just visiting Deep Ellum, Emporium Pies is a must-visit, and “Lord of the Pies” should be at the top of your list. It’s easily one of the best apple pies I’ve ever had, and I highly recommend it to anyone with a sweet tooth. Next time, I’m definitely coming back with a scoop of ice cream to complete the experience!
